1794

As a result of battles fought during the Kościuszko Uprising, Piaseczno was severely damaged. This is how it is described by a town chronicler: ‘During the reign of Stanisław August, in 1794, during the uprising of the whole nation in June, Moscow troops followed the Poles with their commander-in-chief Tadeusz Kościuszko to besiege Warsaw. The above-mentioned town of Piaseczno was first plundered and then burnt down almost completely, with the exception of Zastawie and the parish church, where the miserable residents, having lost all their property, had to escape to survive, and the others suffered unspeakable misery’.
